Uwe - forget PHP for the moment - just follow the notes in the Firebird
Installation to check that you actually have a working copy of Firebird.
I would strongly recommend something like IBOConsole to manage data if
you are using windows. But even before getting there, making windows
actually work as a network server has it's own challenges, and you might
get faster help in firebird-support just to gat the basics running.
First question is which version of windows, and what do you have in the
way of network hardware ( stand alone windows machines do not
necessarily have TCP/IP actually running ! )
IBOConsole will throw a few more error messages when trying to connect
that help to fault find.
