That is the extension directory it gives in the php.ini, I think it
is standard for suse because it is similar to the suse 8.2. Another
thing when I delete interbase.so from the extension directory but
keep the entry in the php.ini apache starts fine. Therefore I think
something must be wrong with the way I am compiling the module.

When you ran RC6 you didn't have to tweak anything, I cannot seem to
get it to work at all, I tried RC6 on suse 8.2 and could not get it
to work. Lester did you ONLY use the suse packaged version of PHP
and APACHE?
