I haven't recompiled (on win2003) - I just obtained the library from the
full zip download, placed it in the extensions dir, then uncommented the
line in the php.ini file which contains the ref to the ib dll.

Subject: [firebird-php] Getting ibase_connect() to work.

Hello Firebird-php Mailing List,
It seems so hard to find information about anything on the internet
these
days. I have until recently used Redhat but I found suse very appealing
so
far. I have an install of Suse 8.2 with Apache and PHP4 running already.
I
installed Firebird 1.5 and it starts and I used bin/isql to view tables in
the database. I have also written a test script for php so I know it
crudely
works. So here is my question...(it seems ridiculously easy).

Do I have to recompile php with --with-interbase="/usr/local/firebird" to
be
able to use the ibase_connect(),etc. functions in php??

Or is there some way to add a line to php.ini that will prevent compiling
the
source?

Thanks
PS. This is my first mailing list, is there a good way to arrange
messages by
thread in something like kmail, or to stay sane do you just look at the
archives of the messages?
-Ian
