At the time (20 years ago), we were using Borland's Interbase and
Delphi. The time difference was radical. I replaced the Borland tcp
software with my own SQLRunner. 26 hours for 1.5 million rows went down
to 40 minutes.
I think it was related to some critical bit settings for the connection.
