This may sound a silly question, but WHICH 'DB perspective' - there have been
some good and some bad plugins for handling SQL. I currently use SQLExplorer
but normally nowadays have FlameRobin in the background instead.

I always set up aliases for the database, so that I don't have to worry about
switching between windows and linux servers
