Notification" was posted in December 2006. The Business family has EOSL
in 2018, but Sun gets money for that.
Also, dropping support does not mean that there will be no updates to
releases supporting the JDK 1.3 and 1.4 - Jaybird 2.1.x branch remains
open. There will be no new features, like upcoming support for
PreparedStatement.getGeneratedKeys() method.
The issue is really that supporting 1.3/1.4 codebases together with
5.0/6.0 ones requires a lot of efforts...
