that is exactly the way that I was trying, not switching to OpenJPA,
but to Hibernate. The problem is that I receive an error message that
still refers to Toplink. Thus there probably rests any reference,
maybe indirectly, to Toplink.

Thank you anyway! I will go on working on this, also looking for
alternative IDEs.
