Well, it was probably me who asked the poster to take the question here,
since it's a bit hopeless in the general support list, trying to answer a
transaction-related question in terms of snippets of Java code.

And yes, this question has been around many times in many different
guises. Alexander Nevsky ("Ded") engaged Nickolay Samofatov in a
discussion of it recently (about 2-3 weeks ago) in firebird-devel - you
could chase that thread up via the firebird-devel archives at
news://news.atkin.com.
