I tested JayBird with OpenOffice and Fiewbird and it seemed to work OK.
There is a section in the FAQ about how to install it JayBird in
OpenOffice..

I just did a few simple things, grabbed data from a database and put it into
a spreadsheet, for example. All seemed to work OK.
