You can put DB on CD and access it in read-only mode. You can put
Firebird server _installation_ on CD and ship to you customers. But
you will need to install Firebird server on client PC so it is
accessible to JayBird JDBC driver. Firebird and JayBird run on
Windows and Linux (and lots of other platforms).
