Fairly soon we should have the first beta release of Jaybird 1.5 which will
include the type2(native and embedded) code.

It might be worth waiting for this release as it should not be long.

Presumably for linux this is still CS archutectire so the process would only
be able to make a single connection too the database - or is their actually
a SS arcutecture embedded server in their now ?

Download fromCVS client-java, compile it. - build compile-native
get firebird-embedde for OS you will use (for linux it is in firebird CS
1.5RC6)
for windows there is separate download
Everything else is in README's
BTW For windows fmembedded.dll depends on some DLL's - better check before
releasing
