Subject Re: [IB-Java] How to doc and download of the true Java client

While I appreciate your interest in the all-java driver, be warned that
(1) it is definitely in an "alpha" or pre-alpha state
(2) it is primarily intended for use as a jca resource adapter in j2ee
application servers such as jboss.

If you wish to try it out, check out the "client-java" project from
firebird's sourceforge cvs tree and use the ant build script in src/build
to build the project. Look at the junit test classes for hints on how to
use it. It has only been run at all against various versions of firebird,
and seems to work better on linux than windows. Ask if you want more
advice/help.

Note that for your scenario you can use interclient, with interserver
running on the same windows box as firebird/interbase. You may want to get
the firebird edition of interclient/interserver (2, not 1.6), although you
will have to build both pieces yourself, since it fixes some issues with
DatabaseMetaData.
