Subject Re: [IB-Java] New JDBC work started

Hi,

Very good news!

I would like to see the result include full XA support and JCA resource
adapter support. I have done some work along these lines and would be very
interested in working with you. Perhaps we could find a way to each work
from one end?

Also I suggest that perhaps LGPL would be more appropriate than GPL? I
think GPL in such a case may possibly require any program using the driver
to be GPL, which would considerably limit the possible usefulness.

I also have tried but so far failed to understand the message passing
structure back and forth between interbase server and gds. (like code from
which files control it). I'd like some hints.

I'm also happy to work on the metadata stuff, I rewrote most of what is in
interserver now already.

I tend to think that understanding gds is more important than interserver:
for non metadata calls interserver doesn't do much.

Thanks
David Jencks
