Yes it covers The Firebird Book 2nd Ed. covers Firebird 2.5, to quote
from its introduction:

"For those who have been using older Firebird versions or InterBase
until now, the Firebird Book introduces the security, language, and
optimizer enhancements that were added with the “2-series” releases:
2.0.x, 2.1.x and 2.5.x."
