If I got it right it seems that IBObjects are commercial software and
avaiable for Windows/Delphi-only while I'm interested for open-source
stuff and use (Debian) Linux?


You should join the IBO mailing list or ask Jason directly:
AFAIK a lot of IBO components work with FPC/Lazarus.
And -- at least in the past -- IBO components were available under Jason's Trustware license for non-profit projects.
