Andrew,
related to the Firebird Foundation, not the project.
All other direct project lists are hosted on either Yahoo or
SourceForge.
Why?
Simple. Ease of use/maintenance -- no hardware or no bandwidth to buy.
If you consider that the Support List has over 5300 members and in some
months more than 1700 messages are processed by that list alone... It
doesn't take long for the traffic volumes to become significant.
With Yahoo we get near instantaneous messages delivery for free!!!
All we have to put up with is some stuff at the bottom of the messages.
A small price to pay.
