The problem is not one of neglect, but just hitting people round the
head to get the same treatment in distributions for Firebird as MySQL
and Postgres gets.
That said, FB/PHP on WINDOWS works like a charm, and *IS* preferred over
other databases. And installing on Linux is not difficult - at least no
more difficult than getting a CURRENT build of MySQL or Postgres working

> When I could, and knew how, I contributed to that knowledge (see my posts on the relevant list-serv). As of now I don;t know. I have been hunting for tips for a couple months now. I have been using FB since day one, and I will use it asd long as it is practical. But guess what will potential newcomers do; there is MySQL and there is Postgres, all ready to run under PHP and Linux.
Perhaps you have not heard - MySQL is not supplied as the default for
PHP5, and a lot of people are having trouble with that. It would be nice
to see a bundled LAFP pack, I have one in house, but I don't have time
to package it. At the moment I'm in the process of stripping all the
double quote 'fun' out of bitweaver, a framework for PHP that does
install on Firebird 'out of the box' :)

In the meantime, we need people to improve the existing PHP
documentation so that more progress can be made ;)
