Check out my thread on Feb 22 2005 "Strange behaviour with IB7.5" in
b.p.i.general. I had no option but to backtrack from IB7.5 to 7.1 SP2
because of instability running under Win 2k.

Borland have since identified a problem with connections that produces the
same behaviour that I experience. I frequently have 200+ simultaneous
connections, and I can crash my IB7.5 server every time by attempting to
open 100 or so connections simultaneously. Borland tell me that this will
be addressed in a forthcoming service pack but they have been unable to
tell me when. Until then I will be sticking with IB7.1 SP2 as I cannot
afford to have such instabilities in my production databases.
