While on the subject of PHP and MySQL, there are so MANY books about this
combination, and I am some of them are excellent, can I go far wrong by
getting one of them, and wherever MySQL is mentioned, just do it Firebird's
way?
Any recommendations?

If we can get the PHP world to embrace Firebird like they embraced MySQL,
and when we start seeing books like
"PHP and Firebird" like the many I see for "PHP and MySQL" then we are
cookin'.
