The slowness might have something to do with the recent addition of some
new (different) graphics. They are not very bulky, but possibly it's
taking a while for your cache to refresh.

Something is funny on your setup. The URL doesn't come back to my browsers
as http://firebirdsql.org

If you think slow DNS resolution is the problem, trying connecting to
http://firebird.sourceforge.net and see whether that helps.
