I doubt it impacts Firebird at all...
CA have milked Ingres for all its worth, and rather than kiling
it and annoying the few remaining customers they have they have
open sourced it in the hope that it will have life after death.

Anybody interested in an open source version of Ingres would
have moved to Postgres years ago...
