I fully doubt it. See, just because it comes from the
ports doesn't mean its uniform. Thats one of the great
things about the ports, you can get a standard approved
install customized to your local environment with no muss.
no fuss.
Additionally, port maintainers almost NEVER give out
binaries, that would defeat the purpose of the port.
I don't get the issue, if your running 4.8+ download the
port from www.freebsd.org/ports/databases/firebird.
Ungzip/tar it.
cd to the directory
type make install
anyone who uses FreeBSD is -highly- familiar with this
process.
