Text fields can be set to UTF-8 (actually CESU-8) to store Unicode data.

Klingon is not encoded in Unicode (seriously). The "Klingon" joke
comes up many times Unicode is mentioned, but it was voted down long
time ago and I don't see a revision of this decision anytime soon.
