Slashdot is "the nerd side of news". However, IMHO it's mostly unrestricted,
so if you want to publish your emotional burst or your uninformed claim or
you hatred towards X, Y and Z, you will succeed.
I personally don't read it; people who are more organized with their time
than me or more passionate about IT hearsay may do, however.

I think it's irrelevant to participate in heated discussions if people are
driven mostly by the first idea that comes to their head instead of knowing
the facts (like international agreements to prosecute criminals, protect
trademarks, etc).

Interestingly, today I visited the /. site briefly after reading your
question and from a few lines I read in their main page, SCO would sue IBM,
Red Hat and Suse for source code rights, so people accuse SCO of being
"destroying the open source community". One billion dollars lawsuit against
Big Blue???

BTW, both slashdot.org and sf.net are registered by VA Software Corporation
(OSDN).
