Does your IT manager have concrete reasons to do this? If you have
several systems running on InterBase, why are the reasons to migrate
them to DB2?

You can ask in a technical forum in order to resolve the problems.
There's always a way to solve the problems.

No, but i think you can solve the problem with timestamp fields, just
ask in IB tech forums.
