I've used both Postgresql and Interbase/Firebird (just switched
to FB v1 internally) I like them both. Postgresql seems
to have a larger especially wrt. to open source developers
and web development. Of course if you want a large following
switch to MySQL (have fun)
I ran Interbase 5.x on windows 95 for years. I could literally
unplug the machine and when i restarted i never lost data in
interbase (cause heaven knows win95 crashed often enough)
I have a script that runs backups once a day for my interbase/firebird
databases,
I literally do no maintenance at all besides that (is that bad?)
That's about the greatest feature for me. Install and forget.
