This is a gratuitous, inaccurate characterization of events and will serve
to fuel more dissension, which is unproductive at best.

In the past the open source Interbase community AS A WHOLE decided that
Firebird was a good name and adopted it. Recently someone suggested that it
has deficiencies (to no one's surprise) and is arguing that it be changed.
That the community as a whole is somewhat resistant to this is also no
surprise.
