IBX is a direct, native interface to Interbase for Delphi which does not
use the BDE at all. So is IBObjects.

BDE development with regard to Interbase has slowed to a crawl since the
Interbase 6 open source developments began. With Kylix moving along nicely
the future of the BDE is in doubt (at least from many customer viewpoints).
