I suggest that anyone interested in building join the ib-build
list at mers.com. You may also want to check out the firebird
project on sourceforge. Our mailing list archives are now available,
and we have done quit a bit of work to make it easier to
build from the firebird CVS tree.
go over to www.sourceforge.net/projects/firebird to check it
out.

Once you subscribe to ib-build, you can browse the archives at
www.mers.com. This will save you a LOT of pain and suffering.
