Helen et al,
I've just had a look at the test suite for PostgreSQL (I was
interested in what others do and how they approach the problem), and
I think that we could use a lot of their tests as a starting point.
Now before anybody starts flaming me for copyright violations, I
would maintain/observe that copyright/license requirements. While it
would be "ironic" for the NewCo project to use the Postgre base, it's
well within my understanding of the MPL 1.1 license.
Additionally, I'm taking about using their basic SQL scripts and the
sample data they use. There would need to be some changes, due to
syntax differences.
Using this approach could go a long way the turning the 40-man years
into a more manageable value.
