Just for the record, I was thinking about BRS Search, a product now own by
Dataware (www.dataware.com) and integrated (hidden) in their e-solution
stuff :-)

But they had a great search engine, but a bad API.

The original request mentioned Linux, which disqualifies Rubicon or similar
Windows solutions at the moment.

You're probably thinking of UdmSearch:

http://search.mnogo.ru/

It's from Russia and uses an SQL backend for the index - including
InterBase.
