*nod* I must fully agree here. The more readable a codebase is, the easier
it is to jump into it and know what's happening at any given place, whether
that's done by pure readability of code, or by good use of commenting.
magick is a good example here, after spending several months full speed on
another project, i was able within 10 minutes to jump back into where i was
and continue working with it. I hope this will be the case with the
interbase source base as I myself plan to help where I can :) So in this
case, the code will definately help.

Doug,

Speaking as someone who is familiar with the source code, but certainly not
an R&D Engineer, more like a C hacker (and I use hacker more in its
dictionary sense - rather than the technology usage), the code will
certainly help, but its not going to be the complete answer.... I have found
running the code in debug was more helpful, especially in certain areas, but
even this isn't the perfect answer. We (InterBase) recognise that we have to
document the code, and how it works, and how it all interacts. Work has
already started on this, and you will see information re. the code and what
it does, added as fast as we can realistically do it.

The more people who come to understand the code and what it does, the better
it will be for all of us (InterBase included).
