1) What does it hurt to have a registry if people are willing to create one?

2) I'd rather be prepared for a growth in the number of UDF contributions which *might* occur from the open source events than to get caught with a problem and have to respond/organize/cleanup afterward. Too many problems in the computer industry were not paid enough time & effort until it was too late to save everyone grief (e.g. DLL hell). Forethought can turn into foresight really quickly!
