Stephen and Daniel,
You'll need to get your hands on a copy of a CVS client (try
www.wincvs.org as a starting point, for a list of resources/clients),
set it up and then use it to download the source.
Personally, I would recommend you start with the Firebird source code as
it has seen the largest amount of activity and has the greatest number
of people who can offer support.
Finally, be prepared for the initial download to take quite a
while...the performance of the Sourceforge site at times is akin to
downloading the Library of Congress via a 9600baud connection...
