Not sure if someone has to, really. This guy doesn't care about his
reputation. He seems to proceed like an end user. To do tests, one should
understand what's happening at a general level, one should have basic
knowledge and basic experience on the db arena. Otherwise, one's doing
foolish advice for fools. Probably one should understand that not all dbs
use a transaction log before posting naive assertions. Chris Jewell from
IB/Borland already wrote a technical clarification in the feedback at that
site.
You may argue that's too bad that he dropped IB in his list. Imagine how
worse could be if he does a review if IB given his current writings! Also,
keep in mind that the MGA design of IB doesn't make it appear as fantastic
in single-user, raw benchmarks. You need a real case => utopia?.
Also, you can waste a week fighting with him. From your perspective, you
can say he's irresponsible, ignorant, stupid, etc. For his standpoint, he
can say you are an IB zealot, etc. There's no happy end for such hot
discussion.
