Yeah, I knew the stuff about ocx's would generate some stones my direction.
I guess what I've been thinking about (and all of us for sure) is: How can
it be assured that InterBase **thrives** in its new form. I suppose it
could **exist** with no development past v6.0 for a while, but I don't think
that is what we want. So where do the resources come from to make IB thrive
both now and 5 years down the road?

Usuable drivers **have** to be developed whether they be ODBC, OLEDB, JDBC,
or whatever.

Being elite is fine for sure, but elite by definition is out of the ordinary
(or close to it) which means fewer users. WHat about NEXT? It was supposed
to be the best OS when it came out (before my computing days, so I know very
little about it) but it did not seem to live. Nor has O/S or host of other
products.

re:end users and perceptions. I see the same kind of thing happen at my
employer with Oracle end user products. To many end-users here "Oracle" is
a bad name! But the developers know better.
