Having ODBC/ADO support is crucial. VB programmers are what, 50% of all
developers? Otherwise you will have an image of InterBase as a
"Linux database for Delphi/BCC/Kylix". Nothing is wrong with that,
but this would not give IB much-needed visibility.

As for IBO/IBX/BDE. My understanding (and correct me if I'm wrong) is
that BDE is eventually phasing out; and IBX is being the "standard".
Nothing is wrong with Jason continuing to develop and sell IBO.
I he develops a Linux version - fine for us, if not - he still has
the market of about what, 3 or 5 million current Delphi developers?
We cannot and shouldn't require him to open-source his work. This is
decision left to him to decide. But if he decides to do so,
can someone estimate the amount of work needed to merge IBO and IBX
into one standard base?
