According to IDPL, nothing prevents you from releasing to public so called "derived
work" as long as it is not called "Firebird". Feel free to release something like
"CryBird" and collect feedback.
As I already said, it can be commercial project (so you can earn money on it) and
because plugin library isn't under license restrictions, you can keep its sources closed
if you wish.
