That was a major issue. Borland's original intention of releasing
Interbase open source was to cash in on the open source mania. When
that fell they, they took a shot at stock fraud, then accounting fraud.
When all that fell through, they stiffed the company set up to run with
Interbase, threatened legal action to force a name change away from
Interbase, and refused to license the documentation. The new Interbase
company had done a huge revision of the documentation, but without
rights to the 6.0 manuals, the effort was a dead loss.

It was ugly, very, very ugly. Many lawyers.

Forget about the 6.0 manuals and the pre-Firebird release. Nothing to
be gained by going there.

If you have any specific questions up to version 4, ask away. Ann can
take a stab at version 5.

Oh, and there wasn't an Interbase 1.0. It was gds/galaxy 1.0. The
Interbase name came later.
