here is my howto compile for firebird 2.0 and can be applied to 2.5 too or 3.0
http://www.firebirdnews.org/?p=443
here is my php script i usually run for compiling from cvs
http://github.com/mariuz/firebird_scripts/blob/31c03a0a286ca81fe48bddb627e0393857a3f7ca/firebird3.x-build.php

sudo php firebird3.x-build.php

it just takes the head version from cvs and then it runs the configure script

There are release branches for 2.0 2.1 and there should be one for 2.5
I will ask developers what they use for 2.5 release (see the left
where you choose the branch ID)
