Allowing generators to be reset may not have been the best decision
in the history of the world, but the fact is that generators can be
reset. Using that mechanism to support SOX is like setting a bookcase
on an office chair - it just won't stand up. Wishing that the office
chair had anchors instead of wheels won't help.
