This sounds like a great idea, we have the problem of trying to make sure
that all functionality in our system still runs in a given time period and
we could sure use this as a major testing constraint that would highly
problem areas.

The key would be to get Firebird to give back a detailed error as to why the
running query was stopped.

Coming to think about it, it would also be a major plus to motivate to my
bosses why Firebird is and will stay the best database to use.

Have a 'MaxExecutionTime' parameter somewhere?

I'll raid my piggybank to sponsor it!

(Just the thing to stop long-running queries from hogging the system for
ever, and
to force my developers to write proper queries the first time!)

Nige.
