There are two requests for this already
(http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=9028&atid=359028):

807893 Built in GUID generator
807892 Support for GUID datatype

Both date back to Sep 03. Although I wouldn't personally use them for ID's
I can definitely see the advantage of supporting them, especially if it
helps MSSQL users convert to Firebird.

It might be worth adding some supporting notes to the existing requests
explaining your reasons for wanting them included.
