Subject RE: [Firebird-Architect] GUID Key Fields
Author Noel Cosgrave
There is a UDF available to generate GUIDs. Other than the generation of
the values, the column is a char type. I forget the length though (36?),
but that should be discernable from the docs or code in the UDF package.
The GUID is not usually useful as an autonumber, particularly if you want a
clear number sequence, but is very useful for object ids in
object-relational mapping.

Subject: [Firebird-Architect] GUID Key Fields

Hi,

I like the way Microsoft's SQL Server supports GUIDs as a native field type.
They work particularly well for "autonumber" type key fields.
Are there any plans to support GUIDs natively in Firebird?

Thanks,
Kevin.
