Hi
I started looking into Firebird last year and I like it a lot !
But there where things that were a little disappointing and that surprised
me. I think it's lacking a bit in the "security department". (only limited
characters used in passwords, no groups...)
I come from Lotus Notes background (10 years) and Security features that
have been in Notes since the first release in 1989 (15 years ago!) are not
even in Firebird now. Things like Groups, Encryption
You guys proberbly laugh about Notes, but Notes was build from the very
start with great attention to security the administering of it.
I thinks it is great to step into "another room" a get inspired from time
to time. Notes is conceptually wise very beauttyful everything being a
"note".. whether it is a docuemnt, a view, a ACL or Java code..it is all a
Note
(Historie of Lotus Notes:

Sorry ..not trying to sell Notes. I just want Groups to get into Firebird
a soon as possible. It really makes it a lot easier to administer
security.
PS What happened to that "Firebird Roadmap" to be released "whithin a few
weeks" (that was several months a go)
