..especially for the support lists.

After all, the strings being sought are public knowledge now...I'd have
thought anyone on servers should run the full Monty, anyway, and it should
simply be added to SYSDBA's To Do list.

An issue around this "must connect to a server to do the deed" is those who
don't have a clue about localhost. The developer licence that comes with
Delphi and the Builders doesn't allow remote client connections at
all. Some high percentage of IB newbies install IB from the Borland CDs
and build slow, inefficient file-server style desktop applications using
local IB. Some actually impose these monstrosities on customers (and get
paid for it). I've been to a site where 6 managers had such an app on
laptops and they (a) believed IB could not be used on a network (!) and (b)
had no idea there was licensing involved.

OK, they are breaking the license agreement by deploying local IB with the
developer keys so they deserve what they get. Should we care?

Do we regard it as a problem that needs a solution if IB never gets further
than local on a developer's desktop?
