functions, then that depends. I am sure an Open Source one will crop up
sooner or later, and as such, would remove a great deal of risk associated
with the UDF. (Maybe interbase should start a library collection of them)
On the other hand, if they are much more complex functions, then 2 things :
a) An open source version is less likely.
b) the functions would probably be too complex and specific to include in
the core (E.G. Fourier transforms)
Hence, the problem will resolve itself...
