3.) Is there a reason why the common udf's (or a subset of them) can not
become part of the new version?
I have done some research on this subject, the lack of built-in
functions has been a pet peeve of mine since I started using IB.
Aside from the fact, that it appears that the definition and
implementation of the functions is spread across some 20 source code
files, there is no reason why this can't be done.
The biggest hurdle, as one who has no experience with the source, is the
fact that there is no documentation (aside from the source itself) to
outline the steps, rules and processes which should be followed in
adding the functions.
Perhaps someone from Inprise (Charlie, this means you!) could see if
this part of the "proprietary/confidential" documentation could be
released. "How is the community supposed to take part in the
development if there not given anything to help them along?"
